a powerful oxidant but a weak acid in water solution. It is soluble in water, ethanol and ether, but insoluble in petroleum ether. Pure anhydrous hydrogen peroxide is a colorless to pale blue syrupy liquid which decomposes violently into water and oxygen if heated above 80. It decomposes under strong light or in contact with metal ions or flammable materials. The most valuable property of hydrogen peroxide is that it breaks down into water and oxygen and therefore does not form any persistent, toxic residual compounds.
Use: It is an important oxidant,bleaching agent and disinfectant;mainly used in chemical,textile,pulpand paper industry and environmental protection industry,such as pulp bleaching,deink of wastrpresswork,fabric bleaching,the color developing of reducing dyeing,desizing of inorganic matter,the making of epoxide & glycerol;waste water treatment etc.
