Zinc bacitracin

Zinc bacitracin is a polypeptide antibiotic with a range of action against Gram-positive bacteria.
DEFINITION
Zinc complex of bacitracin, which consists of a mixture of antimicrobial polypeptides produced by certain strains of Bacillus licheniformis or Bacillus subtilis, the main components being bacitracins A, B1, B2 and B3.


CHARACTERS
Appearance: white or light yellowish-grey powder, hygroscopic.
Solubility : slightly soluble in water and in alcohol.

Applications
 
1)Bacitracin Zinc is used to prevent  minor skin infections caused by small cuts, scrapes, or burns. Bacitracin works by stopping the growth of certain bacteria. It belongs to a class of drugs known as antibiotics.
 
2)Bacitracin Zinc is mainly used as feed additives.
