Triphala Powder

Triphala powder, as the name suggests is a mixture of three ancient and time tested ingredients such as amla or Indian gooseberry, haritaki or bastard myrobalan, bibhitaki or chebulic myrobalan. Triphala in Sanskrit mean collection of three fruits. The fruits of these three trees have been used in Ayurvedic and Siddha medicine for the beneficial properties they provide. Together they have a slight to hard bitter taste. This powder has been used to treat gastric problems in Ayurveda.
The Triphala powder is effective for alleviating a number of disorders and as a result even other practitioners of alternative medicine use this in their preparations. It is a household remedy that is kept in a majority of Indian homes.
Being a rich source of Vitamin C, amla or Emblica officinalis is used to treat many diseases like common cold, inflammation of digestive tract, constipation etc.
Haritaki or Terminalia chebula is used to create ayurvedic preparations for treating diabetes. Bibhitaki or Terminalia bellirica rejuvenates body and it is known to treat blood pressure and related ailments. The triphala powder is used to make a concoction like tea and drank in empty stomach.
