Tilmicosin Premix

Pharmacological Action:
Tilmicosin is a semi-synthetic macrolide antibiotic for veterinary use. Its antibacterial action is similar to that of tylosin. It is effective against gram-positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus (including penicillin-resistant strains), Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, Bacillus anthracis, Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Listeria monocytogenes, Clostridium perfringens, and Clostridium chauvoei, as well as some gram-negative bacteria, including Pasteurella haemolytica, Neisseria meningitidis, and Bordetella bronchiseptica. It is also effective against mycoplasmas. Tilmicosin is more active than tylosin against Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Bordetella bronchiseptica, and mycoplasmas.
Uses:
Tilmicosin Premix is used to treat swine pleuropneumonia, swine pneumonia, and swine asthma.

Dosage and Administration:

The recommended dose of Tilmicosin Premix is 400 to 600 mg of tilmicosin per kg of feed. The premix should be thoroughly mixed with the feed to ensure uniform distribution. The duration of treatment should be based on the severity of the disease and the response to therapy. It is recommended to consult a veterinarian before use.

Precautions:

Tilmicosin Premix should not be used in animals with a known hypersensitivity to macrolide antibiotics. It should not be used in animals intended for human consumption within 14 days of the last treatment. Care should be taken when handling the product to avoid inhalation and contact with skin and eyes. In case of accidental contact, wash the affected area immediately with plenty of water.
