The moisture absorbent capacity of silica gel container desiccant is very low, and not suitable for protecting cargo with higher moisture content or cargo in shipping container storage.
Test proved that silica gel desiccant with only 10% moisture absorbent capacity and short 10 days for absorbing moisture, after that will stop absorbing moisture entirely. What’s worse, the already absorbed moisture will start to evaporate to the air if the surrounding temperature rise up to 40®degree, that will cause a big moisture corrosion.
