Talc in paint:
Talc Powder is very white which makes it a perfect filler and pigment in paint and it serves both to whiten and brighten the paint. most paints are suspension of mineral particles in a liquid. the liquid portion of the pain facilitate application ,but after the liquid evaporates the mineral particles remain on the wall. Talc is used as an extender and filler in paints. Owing to platy structure of talc particles ,it helps in suspending other pigments and also helps the liquid adhere to a wall without sagging. It also prevents corrosion by limiting the penetration of water and corrosive agent into the paint.
Talc's low hardness is valued because it causes less abrasion damage on a spray nozzles and other equipment when paint is applied.
Talc in plastic:
Talc is mainly used as a filler. the platy shape of Talc particles can increase the stiffness of products such as polypropylene, vinyl, polyethylene, nylon and polyester. Fine grade Talc is used to increase heat and scratch resistance and also reduce shrinkage of plastics. The degree of rigidity depends on the filling level and fineness of the Talc.
