Silica gel desiccant with low moisture absorbent capacity not suitable for shipping container. Test show that silica gel desiccant with only lower moisture absorbent capacity less than 10% moisture of its own weight and short 2 weeks for absorbing moisture.
What’s worse, silica gel desiccant’s already absorb moisture will start to evaporate to the air and damage the cargo if the temperature in the air rise over 40 degree. But in a shipping container’s temperature will increase over 60 degree.
