The Samsung Galaxy Note was widely panned by the media when it was first announced last year. Then they used it.

The official cries of ‘it’s too big’ subsided and new opinion were formed. Whilst it was a big device, it’s larger screen and S Pen stylus meant that business users in particular found it extremely productive to use.

A year on and Samsung has released the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. An even bigger screen shows just how successful the device was. The screen size has increased from 5.3” to 5.5” and to say the device is more powerful would be somewhat of an understatement.

The Note 2 features a whopping 1.6GHz quad-core processor and features Samsung’s own Exynos 4412 Quad chip. This alone would make it super quick, but add Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to the mix, which the Note 2 will run out of the box, and you have the fastest device on the market.

Of course, it’s not just its huge screen that the Note is famous for, but the S Pen stylus as well. The new ‘hover’ technology in the Note 2 (and Note 10.1) means that the S Pen does not even need to be touching the display in order to make its mark.

Also adding to the popularity of the original Note was the inclusion of a microSD slot. The Note 2 also features microSD capability (with an official capacity up to 32GB, although it will likely work with 64GB cards). It will also comes with internal storage options of 16, 32, and 64GB.

Size wise, the Note 2 is thinner, slimmer, but slightly heavier than its predecessor. However, despite its larger screen, the handset is only fractionally bigger, so its overall footprint is roughly the same. It also has a massive battery, measuring 3100mAh.

To cut a long story short - if you were a fan of the original Note, you’ll love the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.
