Pre-Reforming Catalyst

The pre-reforming catalyst converts heavy hydrocarbons (C2+) that are present in the
natural gas feedstock into a mixture of methane, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and
hydrogen. Pre-reforming catalyst is produced through a sophisticated co-precipitation
method to manufacture a nano-structured nickel based catalyst. For a pre-reforming
catalyst, a high active catalyst with high nickel surface area is essential due to the low
temperature of operation in adiabatic reactors with moderate reactor size. This allows
the use of catalyst pellets with moderate size to be used in pre-reforming reactors.
The hydrocarbon feed from the desulphurization section is mixed with process steam
and preheated and introduced into this reactor. PR-T-01 is a pre-reforming catalyst
with high nickel surface area and outstanding activity and can be operated at low
temperatures and low steam to carbon ratio with insignificant carbon formation and
side reactions.
