Downspout (downpipe) is a pipe for conveying rainwater from a roof or gutter to the ground, also referred to as leaderpipe, downpipe, or drainspout. The downspouts are more and more widely applied in rainwater storage solution. Downspout disconnection (sometimes called roof leader disconnection) represents a cost-effective onsite alternative for reducing the volume and cost of stormwater that requires public management. Runoff from residential rooftops is collected by eavestroughs, which are installed along the edge of the roofline. Water collected in the eavestrough is conveyed to ground level by one or more downspouts. Downspouts may then connect directly to the storm sewer system into the combined storm and sanitary sewer system
