Polyester 1.5 layer forming fabric is developped from Polyester single layer fabrics but with extra yarns to give the weave structure which is similar to double layer forming fabrics. This forming fabric provides good paper side smoothness and better fiber retention. A single layer forming fabric is the least complex of the weave pattern categories and the 4, 5 shaft and 8 shaft configurations are still widely used in the paper making industry. And single layer forming fabrics are also applied in the manufacturing of multi-layer forming fabrics due to their good paper sheet forming properties. A single layer forming fabric has the simplest weave pattern. It is composed by one CD yarn and one MD yarn system. Single layer forming fabrics can be woven into various patterns for different performance and applications.
