Waveplates (retardation plates or phase shifters) are made from materials which exhibit birefringence, we usually use Quartz or Quartz+BK7. There are several kinds of waveplates, Multi-Order waveplate, zero order waveplate, true zero order waveplate and dual wavelength waveplate.
