Magnolol and Honokiol are the bioactive constituents of the bark of Magnolia officinalis. Both are phenolic compounds in which honokiol is an isomer of magnolol. They are found to be up to 1000 times more potent than Vitamin E in antioxidant activity and contribute to the primary anti-stress and cortisol-balancing effects of the plant. It is also used in rheumatism and malaria.
