AcceGen Human periodontal ligament fibroblasts are isolated from human periodontal tissue. Cells are cryopreserved at passage 1 and delivered on dry ice. Each vial contains more than 5×10^5 cells in 1 ml volume. Human periodontal ligament fibroblasts are negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, and fungi. HIV-1, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C are not detected for all donors and/or cell lots . Cells are characterized with expression of fibronectin and vimentin by immunofluorescence. Human periodontal ligament fibroblasts are guaranteed to further expand for 10 population doublings with stable activity and morphology following AcceGen recommended protocols. Periodontal ligament fibroblasts (PLFs) are the predominant cell types found in periodontal ligament and play an important role in development, function and regeneration of periodontal connective tissues. Fibroblasts of periodontal ligament are considered multipotent cells and involved in the synthesis and phagocytosis of collagen and matrix components, secretion of cytokines, as well as osteoclastogenesis. Although similar in morphology and growth rate, periodontal ligament fibroblasts differ functionally from gingival fibroblasts in terms of response towards biological factors, extracellular matrix expression and alkaline phosphatase levels.
