Human Neurons (HN) mainly reside in central nervous system, but also distribute in multiple other parts of the brain such as peripheral ganglia, retina and cochlea. Neurons are highly specialized for the processing and transmission of cellular signals. Transmitting information is the exceptional character that distinguishes neurons from other cells. Neuron stops reproduction shortly after birth and is unable to replace the old one. Consequently, some diseases like neurodegenerative disease (e.g. Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease and Huntington's disease) that damage nerve cells are hard to cure. Another obstacle of research on human nervous system research is the lack of neuronal cells due to the difficulty of isolating neurons from living patients.
