AcceGen Human Neural Progenitor Cells are cryopreserved neurospheres derived from human brain cortex. Each vial contains ≥ 1.2 million cells in 1 ml volume. Neural progenitor cells can be maintained viable in cell culture media following AcceGen recommended protocols. The cells are able to differentiate nondirectionally into neurons, astrocytes and oligodendrocytes in Neural Progenitor Differentiation Medium + 25 ng/ml brain-derived neurotrophic factor. Cells are tested negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast and fungi contamination. Human Neural Progenitor Cells (hNPCs) are progenitor cells of the central nerve system (CNS) which can proliferate and differentiate into many glial and neuronal cell types with distinct functions. Neural progenitor cells can be found in the developing embryos, neonatal and adult brain cells. Neural progenitor cells have limited proliferative ability where they do not generate non-neural cells and cannot self-renew. Embryonic neural progenitor cells have more developmental potential in neurogenesis compared to adult neural progenitor cells, making it ideal candidate for neurological research. Applications
AcceGen human neural progenitor cells provide a good model for study normal neurogenesis and CNS function and clinically relevant neurodegenerative disorders in vitro. Cells can also be applied to assess neurotoxicity, drug efficacy and in other neurological research.
