AcceGen Human kidney fibroblasts are collected from healthy adult renal tissue. Kidney tissue was isolated into single cells and the fibroblasts were extracted and cultured into high purity. Kidney fibroblasts are cryopreserved at passage one for best viability and culture efficiency. They can further expand for 3-5 passages in cell culture media kit following suggested protocols in technical sheet provided by AcceGen. All kidney fibroblasts have passed QC test and been confirmed negative for HIV-1, HIV-2, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C as detected by serology or PCR. Cells are also tested negative for mycoplasma and other detectable microbial contaminations. Product Description
Human kidney fibroblasts (HKF), or renal fibroblasts, are mesenchymal cells that display spindle-shaped morphology. They can be found in renal cortical interstitium and play an important role in maintaining extracellular matrix (ECM) homeostatic by controlling ECM production and degradation. Abnormal kidney fibroblast proliferation can lead to kidney ECM accumulation and often lead to renal fibrosis, which may develop into chronic kidney disease. Kidney interstitial fibroblast also plays a key role in endocrine control. They are the source of erythropoietin (EPO), a glycoprotein hormone that is central for proliferation and differentiation of erythroid progenitor cells. A well-functioned renal cortical fibroblast can protect human against anaemia. Application
Human kidney cortex fibroblast can be used as a good model for studying renal disease, endocrine regulation, and ECM homeostasis. Furthermore, they may be used to study the development of kidney, assay cell interactions or the generation of cell derivatives.
