Specification: AcceGen human dopaminergic neuron cells are isolated from fetal brain tissue under authorization. Our dopaminergic neuron cells are selected in tyrosine free medium supplemented with a mixture of growth factors. Each vial contains ≥5×10^5 cells. Cells are assessed to express typical dopaminergic neuron marker tyrosine hydroxylase (TH). Dopaminergic neuron cells are cryopreserved at passage 1 in cell culture media. The cells can be recovered in neuron maintenance media and guaranteed to further expand up to 4 passages following procedures provided by AcceGen. All cells are tested negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, and fungi.

Dopaminergic (DA) neurons are heterogenous groups of cells located from midbrain to forehead in mammalian central nerve system. They are the main source of dopamine, an important neurotransmitter responsible for mental and physiological regulations. The majority (~90%) of brain dopaminergic cells reside in the ventral part of mesencephalon. Dopaminergic neurons play an important role in regulating motor behavior, addiction, motivation, and reward system. Excessive dopamine in the brain is positively correlated with schizophrenia. While loss of dopaminergic neurons in substantia nigra in aged populations leads to Parkinson’s Disease (PD). Primary human fetal dopaminergic neurons have a better in vitro performance in survival and neuron reinnervation compared to iPS-derived dopaminergic neuron cells, making it ideal model for neurological study.
