How to use repair strip to repair conveyor belt?


Repair strip is used for conveyor belt cold repair, but many customer do not know how to do after they buying it, how to bond ? brush adhesive to which side ?

To answer these question, Ramimtech service team gave us an on-site operate schematic as follow:

What does repair strip use for ?

Repair strip is a special kind of rubber product which is used for repair damage of conveyor belt .
The front side is wear-resistant rubber , bonding side is CN semi-vulcanized layer. We use cold vulcanzing adhesive to bond repair strip onto damage of conveyor belt .
There are two kinds of repair strip, one is standard , the other is fabric reinforced. Width 100mm/150mm/220mm/300mm/400mm are available.
Users can choose suit size according to damage. In principle, the size of repair strip will be of 3-5mm larger than damage.

How to choose adhesive to bond repair strip?

There are many kinds of cold vulcanizing adhesive , to choose good adhesive , the first point we need to consider is the bonding strength , we recommend SK811.
With extraordinary bonding strength, it is popular in global market. Cold vulcanizing adhesive sk811 will have vulcanizing reaction with Cn semi-vulcanized layer,which will
make repair strip to be bonded with damage area firmly. its strength will be in the same level with hot vulcanizing.

Brush adhesive on what side of conveyor belt repair strip?

Brush adhesive on the back of repair strip . As image1, After mixing cold vulcanizing adhesive Sk811 and hardener , brush the mixture on the surface of CN bonding layer.
Cold vulcanizing adhesive sk811 will have vulcanizing reaction with Cn semi-vulcanized layer,which will
make repair strip to be bonded with damage area firmly. its strength will be in the same level with hot vulcanizing.

The using method of repair strip.

Image: Our service team is roughening the damge area by angle grinder.
Firstly draw the outline of the damge area . it should be larger than damage.
Then use L1202 angle grinder with 125mm K23 tungsten carbide buffing disc to roughen it until the damage surface tuns arc and have no protrusion.

Image: Use cleaning agent to clean the damage area after roughening.

Use cleaning brush to clean the roughened surface. Then use cleaning agent to make a deeper clean. Wait it dry.

Image: Our service team is mixing cold vulcanizing adhesive and hardener.

Brush adhesive . Firstly brush one coat on the damage area. Until the first coat is completely dry , brush on the second one . Meanwhile brush one coat on the CN bonding layer
of repair strip. Wait the adhesive is slight sticky(check with the back of finger),it will be the good time for bonding .

Image: Our service team is rolling on repaired area repeatedly by roller stitcher.

Apply repair strip. Apply repair strip from one side of damage area ,note do not trap air in. After bonding,use roller stitcher to roll on the surface from center to circum.
Force out the trapped air then roll the surface firmly.
