Dense medium cyclone

Introduction
Cyclone is a piece of equipment which utilizes fluid pressure energy to create rotational fluid motion. This rotational motion causes relative movement of the materials suspended in the fluid, thus permitting separation of these materials from one another. The rotational motion of the fluid is produced by tangential injection of the fluid into the cyclone.

Application
Using high density suspending liquid as medium, the cyclone can separate minerals by centrifugal force. Materials of high specific gravity aggravate exterior wall and precipitate downwards to bottom along a spiral track and then are discharged. Minerals of low specific gravity cannot penetrate the layer of heavy medium suspending liquid and are discharged from overflow end. So, effective and precise separation is achieved.

Working principle
The hydraulic cyclone, a common classifier, is designed according to the centrifugation and sedimentation theory. When the two-phase or three-phase mixed liquor is fed into hydraulic cyclone through feeding opening, the mixed liquor can form a three-dimensional and oval and strong rotating and tangent cyclone. Considering that there is a particle size difference between fine and coarse ores, the majority of coarse ores precipitates to bottom in a spiral trajectory by the action of centrifugal force, centripetal force, buoyancy and fluid resistance, etc, and then is discharged. Fine ores form a cyclone, move up and then overflow through the overflow outlet.
