1.Product Description
Chloramphenicol is a bacteriostatic antimicrobial, which is effective against a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including most anaerobic organisms. The most serious adverse effect associated with chloramphenicol use is bone marrow toxicity. But because chloramphenicol is cheap, it was often added to feed to prevent and control several bacterial and protozoan infections of animal. However, due to resistance and safety concerns, such compounds have not been authorized as feed additive up to now.This ELISA KIT is a competitive enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative analysis of chloramphenicol in chicken, fish, shrimps, honey, milk and milk powder.
2.Test principle
The basis of the test is the antigen-antibody reaction. The microtiter wells are coated with capture antibodies directed against anti-chloramphenicol antibodies. Anti-chloramphenicol antibodies are added which are bound by the immobilized capture antibodies. After an incubation and washing step standards or sample solution and chloramphenicol enzyme conjugate are added. Free and enzyme conjugated chloramphenicol compete for the antibody binding sites (competitive enzyme immunoassay). Any unbound enzyme conjugate is then removed in a washing step. Substrate/chromogen solution is added to the wells and incubated. Bound enzyme conjugate converts the chromogen into a blue product. The addition of the stop solution leads to a color change from blue to yellow. The measurement is made photometrically at 450 nm. The absorption is inversely proportional to the chloramphenicol concentration in the sample.
