Product Description
The 10-hydroxycamptothecin is formed by hydrolysis of irinotecan by carboxylesterases and metabolized by glucuronidation by UGT1A1. The variant of UGT1A1 in ~ 10% of Caucasians that leads to poor metabolism of SN-38 predicts the toxicity of irinotecan, since it is then less readily excreted from the body in its glucuronide form SN-38. 10-hydroxycamptothecin and its glucuronide are lost in bile and feces. It can cause the symptoms of diarrhea and myelosuppression in about 25% of patients on irinotecan.
