I have previously had good experiences when purchasing from other Chinese suppliers but was unable to source the particular component needed. A Google search returned VNsky as being a possible supplier and I went to their website and asked for a quotation. I got a reply from Jack Chan on 20th Oct 2014 who claimed to be able to supply the electronic component needed. He sent a proforma invoice which I paid up front against using a wire transfer. On the 27th Oct 2014 I received confirmation from Jack that the funds had arrived. Finally on the 10th November I had confirmation that the goods were being shipped out, giving a DHL tracking number. When the shipment arrived it contained the wrong components. Assuming that there had been a simple shipping mistake I tried to contact VNsky by email but despite multiple attempts have had no response, I can only assume that I have been the victim of a scam and that VNsky are making a practice of shipping wrong components and then ignoring complaints. My next step will be to try and use our usual debt recovery firm to recover the debt, although I have doubts as to how effective this will be.

RECOMMENDATION: |
Unless you have experience with the Chinese supplier concerned or they come through a respectable third party such as Alibaba, then make the most stringent checks you can before wiring payment.
