COMPLAINT:
In December 2013 right through to September 2014, I dealt with a supplier named Sky Wang of Sunpotex Factory Limited, registered in Hong Kong. Sunpotex Factory Ltd's secondary address is: Chencun Industrial Park, Shunde, Foshan, Guangdong. Sky Wang deals with factories in the Jinjiang area.

I met Sky Wang through my previous manufacturer whom Sky Wang had worked for a large and was my account handler. My account with this big swimwear manufacturer was dropped simply because i could not meet their minimum orders. They were great and produced excellent swimwear.

In that time, Sky Wang left (or as rumour has it was fired from) the large swimwear manufacturer and started his own company. Sky's new company is called Sunpotex Factory Ltd and the registered ‘head office' is in Hong Kong (Flat B07 Floor 23, Industrial Building 26-38, Kwai Cheong Rd, N.T )

I trusted Sky because he was my original contact and my original order with the large factory was of very high quality and I was happy with the outcome of my first order and thought the quality was in part due to Sky.

This was not the case.

The goods I received were not of the same quality of my samples. The material used was not of the same quality as the agreed sample, it was lighter and thinner. The sizes were much smaller to the size of the original sample - as if they were trying to save on the overall cost of yardage. The craftmanship of the swimsuits was far less superior to the craftmanship of the original sample. The sewing appeared to be "home sewn" like a beginner seamstress did the job. Some materials like rubber being exposed and cut with blunt scissors. Seams looked like they were cut by children - jagged and inconsistent like an art project. Stitching coming undone very easily on crucial areas like straps. Stitching technique was very poor - bunched up and like a ball. Lots of loose hanging thread on each piece. Marks on some prints that look like printing mistakes. Fabric quality was not the same, with thinner flimsier fabric supplied instead of the original sample fabric. The dye in some prints would run after a quick soak in water. Sky failed to deliver as promised and I received my shoddy order 5 months late. There was a general lack in overall pride and quality control.

When I made contact with Sky Wang and told him about the poor quality, his response was "surely, not all of it is bad". I sent Sky evidence such as photos and videos of the stock. I would videotape myself opening an unopened box and pulling out the pieces to show him that I was not trying to manipulate him.

When I confronted Sky about the dye running, he said he would investigate the matter and get back to me asap. A week later, he emailed asking for his money. He did not address this particular issue.

Sky continued to chase me for the remaining money owed. He was completely focused on getting his money with no recourse for improvement. I offered for Sky to arrange to get the goods back and he refused this option which indicates he knew the goods were of bad quality.

Sky acted in spite and made some threats to my life should I return to China to do business. He mentioned anecdotes of factories having previously killed their overseas clients when they returned to do business in China.

I have all of this on record in email correspondence.

RECOMMENDATION:
In hindsight, I foolishly placed too much trust in Sky Wang's ability and knowledge. After my last order with Sky, I firmly believe he lacked all the necessary skills in swimwear manufacturing, was grossly incompetent and hid behind the reputation of a large manufacturing company.

In future, reputation and one prior successful order is not enough.

As silly and obvious as this sounds, I should have conducted and performed my own quality control. A bait and switch was basically what happened to me and had I been there as they were loading the goods from the factory, I would have detected the faulty goods.

Sky Wang of Sunpotex Factory Limited does not have the skills and knowledge to start his own swimwear/ clothing company. I would strongly urge NOT to do business with Sunpotex Factory Limited.
